yoga

Always check with your doctor before starting and kind of exercise program. If you have been sedentary, there are gentle yoga styles. It can lift your spirits. The brief soothing chant creates a feeling of oneness within our selves and with each other. There are meditative benefits of yoga. Start with an introduction class to learn the postures and sequence. Find a certified teacher. If you're looking for a heart-pumping workout with yoga try Ashtanga, an athletic yoga. Ashtanga links high-energy postures (called vinyasa) in a challenging aerobic sequence that burns more calories than a traditional yoga class. It's paced by the rhythm of your breath, you move through poses in a continuous flow, balancing, twisting, lunging, and stretching.

Ashtanga Yoga's Rewards:
*Strong mind/body connection
*Less stress
*Better flexibility, coordination, and posture
*Increased strength and endurance
*Improved heart and lung function

You will break a sweat, burn calories, and may even be a little sore the next day. Ooommm

Is it possible to learn yoga on your own? Around here were I live there are no instructors, but I would love to learn though. I have read in so many places that it is a good exercise for people with Fybromyalgia.
Maybe video tapes (DVD's)?

Soto, thanks for the visit and comment. I don't know where to find you, therefor, I hope you read this comment. Medical-based stress reduction is effective in the control of a number of medical disorders including fibromyalgia. See "Yahoo Search" for fibromyalgia. Always ask your physician for medical advice. A lot of people can be self-taught in many areas. Don't forget the atmosphere plays a part in yoga also besides the moves. I have seen many VHS tapes on the varied levels of yoga at the stores including for beginners. If you find the poses to difficult, start with bio-feed-back tapes to relax you and limber you up. Try a video tape on stretching or beginners Pilates. More circulation through your body is a good thing. Good luck, sorry I'm not medically informed. I'll pray you find your answers. God Bless you.
